Hello new neighbourhood
The best, the finest and the tastiest that the area offers, all reside at a stone’s throw from Villa Wassenaar. From Michelin-star dining, to the best education and world-famous musea. Living here means having the freedom to choose what suits you best from endless excellent options.
Culture & Education
For a smaller-sized community, Wassenaar provides excellent options for a rich and enticing lifestyle. The area knows several prime educational institutions, such as the nearby International School and prestigious universities at a convenient distance — think of the University of Leiden, KABK in The Hague, or the world-renowned TU Delft.
All ages can find invigorating insights at the acclaimed museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar. Regularly changing exhibitions and the permanent collection, including the overwhelming Open Ended by Richard Sierra, never cease to inspire.
Nurturing nature
What about a daily walk to explore the nature reserve enveloping the village of Wassenaar towards the sea? Odds are you will spot Scottish highland cattle or wild Konik horses grazing in the fields on your way. The dunes and beach area are a delight and less frequently visited than the beaches to the north and south of here.
Fine dining
Connoisseurs of good taste get rewarded with plenty of options in the vicinity. The rich land and the Dutch desire for innovation in every aspect of life have created a fertile ground for haute cuisine and pioneering food concepts. Keywords include foraging, local harvest, seasonal produce, one single tasting menu and experience-based eating, but words don’t justify the gastronomic experience. As pictured, it is a feast for the senses, served at the 12-seat restaurant Tres in Rotterdam, only half an hour's drive from home.
The Hague
The administrative centre of The Netherlands and its seat of government has a magnetic appeal. The impressive architecture, historic buildings, broad pavements and rich legacy of art and culture are paralleled with its citizens' generous, down-to-earth attitude. Throughout the centuries, it has attracted academics, philosophers, painters, musicians and artists who wouldn’t call any other place home than the 3rd largest city of The Netherlands.
Centrally located
Zoom out on the map, and the convenient (and immensely green) location of Villa Wassenaar is evident. All bigger cities — Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam, Delft, Eindhoven — are within easy reach, with two airports within half an hour's drive, including Schiphol Airport. High-speed railway commuting makes Brussels, Paris or London less than 4 hours away.
