The architect
The remarkable villa on Schouwweg is the work of the renowned architectural firm Van Manen. Based at the historic Calorama Estate in Noordwijk, a national heritage site, the firm has been designing and creating exceptional villas and country homes in the high-end segment for over fifty years. At Van Manen, the focus lies in crafting inspiring living environments. Their philosophy? Designs are not just buildings; they enrich lives and contribute to happiness. Van Manen aims to offer more than the uniform, purely functional spaces so common today. For them, aesthetics are essential. And refinement is their added value. Van Manen creates buildings people truly grow attached to.
‘Our involvement begins with listening to your wishes. We translate these into a design full of character, intertwined with the soul of the location.’

Marieke Meyer-Van Hall is a partner and architect at Van Manen Architecten and responsible for the design of the villa on Schouwweg. 'We combine aesthetics with sustainability, without compromising on comfort. Every project is a unique journey in which we work together to create an environment that is both functional and beautiful. This thatched family home is a showcase of our vision: a place where classic elegance and modern luxury come together. Surrounded by nature, the home offers a serene escape from daily life, while large glass doors seamlessly connect the indoor and outdoor living spaces.'

The landscape architect
He once studied at an art academy, but after completing his education in garden and landscape design, he truly discovered his own style while working at Wolterinck. Since 2016, Peter van den Bos has been designing, creating, and maintaining the most extraordinary green spaces through Studio-B-Gardens. These are gardens that touch the soul, driven by a love for greenery that has been with him since childhood. His designs reveal a strong harmony between living materials – such as plants – and non-living materials like paving. They feature rhythm, long sightlines, and symmetry with a twist. The surrounding environment plays a crucial role, with each garden seamlessly integrating into its context. Hedges act as walls, giving outdoor spaces a human scale and a sense of calm.

The garden at Schouwweg 65A is a hidden paradise that brings together two worlds: a park-like back garden with majestic hedged forms and a lush woodland garden. From the villa’s elevated position, the garden offers breathtaking views. While the garden is characterized by mature trees, a new design introduces a fresh layer that enhances the green experience. The architectural lines of the villa are extended into the landscape, blending seamlessly with the surroundings—where symmetry and natural beauty are at the forefront. Bridges span the woodland garden, and a newly designed path system invites curiosity and discovery.

Experience nature, every day of the year.
